The Western Cape Tooling Iniative (WCTI) was launched as a fully capacitated section 21 company on 31st October 2006. This non-profit orginasation is a public private partnership between TASA the Western Cape Provincial Government and other stake holders. The Tooling Initiative's mission is to rehablitate the Tooling Industry so that it can compete successfully with local and internal competitors. The WCTI will act as the catalyst and mentor to the Western Cape Tooling Initiative for gaining acces to governmental funding agencies such as the DTI, DST and Merseta in order to define and execute projects for the upliftment of the industry.
Co-operation between the government, TASA, Numsa, Merseta, Universities and Colleges are also high on the WCTI agenda in order to achieve the objectives as cost and time effectively as possible.
